long time no me

I haven’t blogged in a loooong time. Sorry. I have missed blogging, but so much stuff has been going on and I just haven’t been able to squeeze in all the posting I wanted. I missed a couple great bloggy holidays and several interesting daily events, which makes me sad. But, I have decided to let go of the past and keep moving forward… so here I am.

First of all, I am appalled at the lack of manners on craigslist. Despite this, I have been able to nab several great deals. yay. I bought my younger sister a turtle on there the other day. It’s really cute. Not live, but cute.

Secondly, I really have been wanting to find several great and vintage-y things lately. Perhaps y’all can help me out. One of the things I’m looking for is some pogs. I realize these sell on ebay and everything, but I don’t want to pay that much money for them. Shipping is outrageous, which is so dumb because they are made out of cardboard.

Another thing I’m looking for is some snoopy glasses. We used to have some, 3 of them to be exact, and one was a tiny little juice glass, one was a big tall glass, and one was a medium glass. Apparently my parents got them at the bread store forever ago for buying lots of bread, or something. (I wish stores did things like that nowadays.) Anyway, they were really cute and I remember loving them to death, but after a while all three had been shattered on the kitchen floor and we had to sweep them up and put them in the trash. Sigh. So, today I went looking for the beloved snoopy glasses online. I only found one out of the set, and that one was hard to find so I am a little discouraged about trying to find all three of them. Besides, the one that I found cost like $16 not including shipping, which seems like overkill to me simply because whether it is worth $16 or not, I feel weird paying for something we already had at a previous point in time. If you know what I mean. Anyway, I put a picture of the one that I found today, so that if you ever see another like it, you can send it to me [: (And just for clarification, the set I am looking for is not the McDonalds set, the Camp Snoopy set, the promotional presidential Snoopy set, the jelly jar set, the milk bottle collection set, or anything else you can find within the first 5 pages of Google results for “Snoopy glasses.”)

Besides all that, I have an ingrown toenail and have been hopping around like a pathetic wussy invalid all afternoon. To make up for it, I wish you and yours a very happy, NON-pathetic-wussy-invalid-because-of-ingrown-toenail day.

today’s great achievements

The title I just gave my post sounds really profound. It could be used as a title for a deeply reflective historical article telling how far we’ve come in fields of medical research and science. It could also be used to describe America’s efforts at world peace, or, on a slightly smaller scale, what Nebraska has done in the past decade to improve its educational standards.

But actually, I just wanted to come on here and say that today on craigslist I found a 14 foot trebuchet for sale, and I learned that scientists really don’t know much about atoms even though they pretend they do.

Sorry for the letdown.

free fun (and frogs)

Lately I’ve been stalking certain craigslist ads (not users) and some of the things I’ve come across are pretty funny/unusual/awesome. Like for example, today I found an ad for a salt truck (I’m not sure, but I don’t think I need one of those). This afternoon, I saw a lop-eared bunny for sale, Sunday there was a free steel futon, and yesterday, someone NEAR MY HOUSE was getting rid of a real live tree frog. I nearly cried knowing I couldn’t take it home and love it forever. I would even build it its own tree, right in my room, and it could hop around and be adorable for all eternity. I could buy it a friend tree frog too, so they could be cute together and thrive mutually (supposedly they do better in pairs anyway). And, I would be willing to buy crickets AND handle them, if it meant my froggy’s happiness… But alas. It was not meant to be. I have siblings, and a cat, and a budget, all of which add problems to my heavenly scenario…

Sigh.

Craigslist certainly can be a heartbreaker for frog lovers like myself.

On the other hand, they did get me a job, so the pain is almost worth it. Kind of.
